Reasonable Adjustments & Special Considerations
Pro Class supports fair access to assessment and certification processes. Where an appropriate adjustment or special consideration is possible, it should address a genuine barrier or circumstance without changing the competence, knowledge or standard that the learner or candidate must demonstrate.
Reasonable adjustments
- ✓
Adjustments may be considered where a disability, accessibility need or other relevant circumstance creates an avoidable barrier to accessing an assessment or PCC-controlled process.
- ✓
An adjustment should support access to the process without giving an unfair advantage or changing what the assessment is intended to measure.
- ✓
The applicable programme or certification rules determine whether a proposed adjustment is technically and academically appropriate.
Special considerations
Special consideration may be relevant where an unexpected circumstance materially affects a learner or candidate around an assessment or examination. Any response must be proportionate and consistent with the applicable scheme requirements.
A request does not automatically change a result, create a pass, remove an assessment requirement or guarantee another attempt. The applicable Pro Class process and available evidence control the decision.
Evidence & decisions
Pro Class or an approved centre may need enough relevant information to understand the requested support or circumstance. Only information reasonably necessary for a fair decision should be requested or shared, and sensitive information should be handled appropriately.
Who is responsible
Raises the need or circumstance as early as reasonably possible and provides relevant information where required.
Supports local administration and applies authorised arrangements within its approved role.
Maintains the applicable standards and determines or controls adjustments where Pro Class approval is required.
Protect confidentiality and avoid presenting an adjustment as a reduction of the required standard.
