Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct
This Code sets out the core ethical and professional principles expected of people who hold, apply for or represent a Pro Class professional certification. It supports trust in Pro Class credentials without replacing any certification-specific requirements or applicable law.
Ethical principles
The following principles provide the foundation for professional conduct associated with Pro Class certification.
Act honestly and avoid conduct that could misrepresent competence, status, evidence or professional standing.
Work within the limits of knowledge, skills and experience, and maintain appropriate professional development where relevant.
Avoid allowing personal, commercial or other interests to improperly influence professional judgement.
Treat people fairly, professionally and without inappropriate discrimination, harassment or intimidation.
Protect confidential information obtained through professional activity unless disclosure is authorised or required by law.
Use Pro Class certification responsibly and avoid statements or behaviour that could mislead employers, clients, learners or the public.
Professional responsibilities
Certification holders are expected to protect the accuracy and credibility of their professional status.
- ✓
Present qualifications, certifications, experience and professional status accurately.
- ✓
Do not claim a Pro Class certification that is expired, suspended, withdrawn or not held.
- ✓
Do not alter, misuse or permit misleading use of Pro Class certificates, marks or credential information.
- ✓
Cooperate with legitimate Pro Class verification, quality or certification-review requests that apply to the holder.
- ✓
Identify and appropriately manage conflicts of interest that could affect professional judgement.
- ✓
Maintain professional behaviour when representing yourself as a PCC-certified professional.
Representing competence and credentials
Professional titles, certification status, experience and competence should be described truthfully and without exaggeration.
A certification should be represented as current only while the applicable Pro Class record remains valid under the certification scheme.
Information and evidence supplied for certification or recertification should be genuine, complete and not intentionally misleading.
Certification does not remove the holder’s responsibility to recognise when specialist expertise or additional competence is required.
Conflicts of Interest
Certification holders should identify circumstances where financial, personal, organisational or other interests could improperly affect professional judgement. Relevant conflicts should be managed or disclosed where appropriate to the professional situation.
Use of Pro Class Certification
Pro Class certification must not be used to imply an approval, licence, authority, accreditation or scope of competence beyond what the specific certification actually represents.
Detailed rules for use of Pro Class logos and certification marks will be published in the dedicated Pro Class Logo & Certification Mark Use phase.
Concerns About Professional Conduct
Where a concern relates to the conduct or representation of a PCC-certified professional, Pro Class may review the matter under the applicable certification, complaints, quality or conduct procedures. Any specific investigation, evidence, appeal or outcome process is governed by the relevant Pro Class policy rather than invented on this page.
How This Code Applies
This public Code describes the ethical expectations associated with Pro Class professional certification. Certification-specific rules, contractual obligations, approved-centre requirements and applicable local laws may impose additional responsibilities.
